The Ceremony

The ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m. and will be held in the Coors Events Center, located on the Boulder Campus on Regent Drive.

Guest Seating

Guests should plan on arriving well before 9:00 a.m. in order to be in their seats for the student processional.   No tickets are required for the ceremony. Early arrival will guarantee the best seating.  The doors to the Coors Events Center will open at 7:30 a.m.


Students should line up on the concourse (upper) level of the Coors Events Center by 8:45 a.m., wearing their academic regalia.  Lineup will be by college or school; arts and sciences will assemble on the southeast side, all other on the southwest side.  The procession will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m.

During the Ceremony

Please stand for the singing of the national anthem and the CU alma mater.  Students should also stand for the conferring of the degrees for their college or school, as announced.  Doctoral and law students will come to the platform to be individually recognized.

Please remain seated at the end of the ceremony for the recessional of the platform party.  The university commencement ceremony will last approximately one and a half hours.

CU Book Store

The CU Book Store will be at commencement to assist with any merchandise needs you may have. They will be located on the concourse level close to the northwest entrance by the elevator and items such as caps, gowns and tassels, batteries and other last minute items will be available. You can also pick up a gift for your graduate, flowers, diploma frames and other CU merchandise.
